it's been 2 years since my last meeting and i have been avoiding all contacts with jws to stay under the radar.
i've had my brother, sister and mom visit from back home 300 miles away and except for my mom i told the others why i stopped believing in the wt's teachings.
they told me that i should do what makes me happy and that nothing would change between us...we will see.
The shunning will now begin!!!
The generation teaching was a key thing for me...starting with the 1995 change, although it took a little while to sink in.
I also told them that our great WTS "scholars" didn't know there was no year 0 when they calculated the years leadind to JC kingdom...so when they found out they just pushed the date of the destruction of Jerusalem from 606 to 607...how convenient!
This is the first I've heard about this...seems it was in the Revelation book...guess I didn't study hard enough
before i acquired a skill, i worked retail.
like many jobs that work non-traditional hours, when you apply for a job in retail or a restaurant or something, you have to tell them what hours you are available to work.
now most people looking for a job, unless they are in school or something, are available to work whenever the job requires.
Sunday has become the busiest day of the week for many retailers and I imagine restaurants. Right after traditional church time, people hit the stores and restaurants, and of course, 60% of the population doesn't regularly attend church. Chik-fil-a notwithstanding.
I have worked jobs where the hiring manager is ok with your availability but the scheduling system is not. I remember having to put 'anytime' availibility for Sunday to continue to be scheduled at a job...the weekday evenings usually wasn't a problem schedule wise.

Actually, guys, I think they are quoting from scholar A.E. Bailey's book "Daily Life in Bible Times," not the childrens book somebody linked to.
The best full quote I could find is “Paul’s general practice was to work at his trade from sunrise to 11 a.m., . . . then from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to preach in the hall, . . . and then lastly to make a house to house evangelistic canvass that lasted from 4 p.m. to far in the night.”
(sir82 seems to have beat me to posting about this)
dear randall.
good morning!.
here is the daniel of brazil (former bethel).. this week at the forum of former jehovah's witnesses had an interesting news!
Never trust a white-haired high school boy. Especially if he walks you home and calls you Einstein.
and nothing happened.
there aren't any voices, nothing is moving around on its own.
i watched insidious, the first, without a doubt, demonic movie.
its all for YOU, Damien!
hilarious!
i found an article today that discusses the new batman movie.
growing up, i remember the batman and robin tv show from the 1960's, and i assumed that the dark knight movies would be along the same lines.
boy, was i wrong!!!

Really? Really. The casting of Christian Bale...having Nolan direct...all the pre-release info/trailers/marketing...It amazes me how anyone could think that studios are going to spend over $180 million making a Batman movie that in ANY way REMOTELY resembles the absurd 1960s Batman TV show. The 60s Batman (and subsequent influence of the comics for a few years) was a bizarre, juvenile tangent on its treatment of the character to begin with. Originally, Batman carried a gun and occasionally did away with the bad guy. After the 60s nonsense, the 70s saw Batman return to his original darker character where it has pretty much stayed.
That said, the movie was violent, much more so than Batman Begins, and I thought should have gotten an R rating.
What happened to the days when a person or family could go to see a movie like Superman, etc
Batman is an entirely different character than Superman! Where Superman embodies and represents the best humanity can aspire to be, Batman represents the shadows, the darkness, the revenge, the manic drive to rid his city of criminals. ITS WHY HE DRESSES AS A BAT.
i am thinking of going paleolithic on my new diet (just to spurn the wtbts that there were cavemen).
if you have don the paleo deal or are doing it...let me know the pitfalls, or the plusses,.
i can't do vegan as i need more protein and hate what bean and rice do to be (teee heee).
Robb Wolf's site and podcast is a great source of info on this.
i collect pretty much any figure in the 3.75 scale.
